YouTube star Ms. Rachel apologizes after being accused of offensive comments

YouTube star “Ms. Rachel” posted an emotional apology video after accidentally liking a negative comment on Instagram.
Rachel Griffin Accurso, who became famous for creating educational videos for children, has more than 18.6 million subscribers on YouTube, as well as almost 9 million followers on TikTok and close to 5 million on Instagram.
The controversy began after Accurso appeared to like an anti-Semitic comment under one of his Instagram posts that read, “Free America from the Jews.” A user later noticed the interaction and contacted him via direct message.

“I would never agree with something as anti-Semitic as a comment,” Accurso said during an apology video posted on his TikTok on Wednesday.

He explained that the comment was liked “by mistake” and noted that he is someone who “makes mistakes.” Accurso said he was trying to remove the comment under his post when he liked it.
“I am very sorry for the confusion caused. I am very sorry if anyone thought that I would ever agree to something as horrific as that,” said Accurso crying.
He added at one point, “I hate anti-Semitism” and that it is human to make mistakes.
The New York Post reported that the comment appeared under a statement on Accurso’s notes app that read, “Free Palestine, Free Sudan, Free Congo, Free Iran.”

While many commenters offered support, others questioned why such comments appeared on his page at all. The incident comes as Accurso’s political posts have drawn increased scrutiny online.

Ms. Rachel has been outspoken in her support for the children of Gaza and has opposed Israel’s war with Hamas. At the 2025 Glamor Women of the Year Awards, she wore a dress with drawings of children from Gaza.
In December, he was named to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural committee. On Sunday, Mamdani appeared alongside Accurso in a video discussing his proposals for universal childcare and free buses.
The social media star’s YouTube music videos focused on language development for young children have garnered billions of views and made him an international celebrity.
Ms. Rachel was interviewed last year by anti-Israel journalist Mehdi Hasan, where she discussed her advocacy for the children of Gaza. He said that his outspokenness does not mean that he does not care about Israel or other children.
“It’s sad that people try to make it controversial when you speak for children who are facing immeasurable suffering. I think it should be controversial to say nothing,” Accurso said at the time. “The idea that caring for a group of children in an emergency means you don’t care about other children is false.”
