President Donald Trump has suggested that his proposed “Peace Board” in Gaza could replace the UN, emphasizing what a national security analyst described as an overhaul of the “existing international system.”
Asked Tuesday if he envisions a new organization replacing the UN, Trump replied, “It’s possible.”
Speaking at a press conference at the White House, the president also told reporters that the UN has consistently failed to fulfill its mandate.
“The UN has not been very useful. I am a big fan of the UN, but it has never reached its potential,” Trump said. While arguing that the UN should continue to exist, he added, “The UN should have resolved all the wars that I have resolved.”

National security analyst, Kobi Michael, said this proposal is already a sign of a break in the international order that has defined world politics for decades.
“Normals, international institutions and organizations and freedom are out, and real politics, interests and power are there,” Prof. Kobi Michael, a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies and the Misgav Institute, told Fox News Digital, before adding that “the EU is not very important.”
Michael’s comments come as the Trump administration moves forward with the board’s plans, which officials say go beyond the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In a January 16 statement, the White House said, in line with the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, “The Peace Board will play a key role in fulfilling all 20 points of the President’s plan, providing strategic guidance, coordinating international resources, and ensuring accountability as Gaza transitions from conflict to peace and development.”

As previously reported by Fox News Digital, preparations for the signing ceremony in Davos, Switzerland are said to be underway when Bloomberg first reported on the plans.
“Dozens” of countries have been invited, officials confirmed, with official invitations sent out on Friday. Trump extended invitations to the leaders of Russia, Belarus, China, Ukraine, India, Canada, Argentina, Jordan, Egypt, Hungary, Vietnam, among others.
The White House said Trump will chair the Peace Council and be joined by senior political, political and business officials, including Jared Kushner, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and billionaire Marc Rowan.
According to Michael, this program shows a new way of international programming.
“We are talking about something much bigger than the Gaza Strip,” he said, before explaining “President Trump’s revisionist approach to the existing international order, where the board is a tool in his vision to change the existing international order.”
Michael said Iran is in the middle of this number, as protests have hit the country amid economic and political pressure.

“Iran is a real game changer, and we are in front of a big and amazing change, well coordinated by Prime Minister Netanyahu,” he said.
Russia’s role on the board is uncertain, as the Trump administration extended invitations to Russia and Belarus, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirming that President Vladimir Putin is reviewing the proposal.
Michael suggested that Moscow’s participation would come with conditions. “If Putin is there, it will be to end the war in Ukraine and he will be forced to give up other big demands,” he said.

“The president invited Putin to join the board to discuss the separation of powers and influence, promising him to ease the sanctions and cut the deal.”
“However, the unions are out, and the unions and regional bodies are still there,” added Michael.
