Beyond the backlash of alleged fraud in Minnesota Medicaid that occurred under the leadership of Democratic Governor Tim Walz, some Democrats avoided responsibility, but others said Walz should be held accountable.
“I think any incident of fraud should be fully investigated and prosecuted, so the federal government should play an oversight role with federal dollars,” Rep. Johnny Olszewski, D-Md., told Fox News Digital. “Governments are responsible, however, to ensure that they control these programs. Any incident should be investigated. When there is fraud, people should be prosecuted for that fraud.”
When pressed on whether he thought Walz should be forced to testify about allowing so much money to be lost in fraud under his watch, Olszewski said “anyone” involved in the massive fraud “should come before Congress and tell us what happened.”

Olszewski wasn’t the only Democrat Fox News Digital heard about who suggested Walz should face the music, but others dodged the question and others pointed to President Donald Trump and Republicans.
“It’s not a joint issue. I just wish that we can focus on really looking at where the facts are taking us and not that one side is trying to fight waste, fraud, abuse, while the other is not,” said Rep. Becca Balint, D-Vt., when asked if anything should be done to prevent widespread fraud — as seen in the Minnesota primary — from happening.

“There’s always an issue of fraud. That’s why the Department of Justice has had a major fraud division that has done a great job, that’s why [Inspector Generals] and the like throughout the federal government. Eliminating those, deporting that group of people was one of the worst things the Trump administration did if they were serious about fighting waste, fraud, and abuse,” said Rep. Glenn Ivey, D-Md.

“Oh, I don’t know that you need a governor to do it. Certainly someone from Minnesota who has the best understanding of what went wrong should,” Rep. Don Beyer, D-Va., told Fox News Digital if Walz should testify.
At a press conference Thursday, state authorities in Minnesota announced new charges in the fraud scandal that has grabbed national headlines and spoke of the severity of the problem, saying it goes beyond what was previously reported.
