New AI Visibility Awards Brands thrive on AI-generated search results

As AI chatbots become the go-to tools for travel planning, product recommendations, and more, marketers are facing a growing challenge: how do you make sure your product shows up in responses?

Semrush believes it has the answer – and is launching an awards program to highlight the best brands.

The recently announced AI Visibility Awards recognize the companies that are most frequently cited, recommended, and featured in AI-generated responses, using Semrush’s AI Visibility Index, a dataset made up of more than 2,500 real commands run through ChatGPT and Google’s AI Mode.

Andrew Warden, CMO at Semrush, said:

  • “This year marks a turning point in how brands gain visibility. It’s not about postings or panels – it’s about real user behavior. These awards see marketers crack the AI code and earn trust where it matters: within responses.”

Measured by the AI Visibility Awards

The awards highlight three types of players across the four major verticals:

  • Section Leaders: Brands have the biggest foothold in AI search
  • Engines of Growth: The most immediate gainers are visibility
  • Opponents: The entrants and beneficiaries of the effects of AI

For example, Google topped the Business and Professional Services category, while Rippling was recognized as a Challenger brand. In Consumer Electronics, Samsung led the pack, with Logitech and Nothing Technology earning Growth Engine and Challenger, respectively.

Other notable winners:

  • MicrosoftDigital Tech & Software Category Leader
  • UNIQLOThe Growth Engine of Fashion and Apparel
  • AnthropicChallenger in Digital Tech & Software

The awards data reveals a few emerging facts about AI-driven discovery:

  • Stability among leaders: Top brands showed monthly fluctuations of less than 20% in AI share-of-voice, suggesting that AI engines are “locking out” trusted names.
  • Niches come from: Brands with clear subject relevance – like Patagonia in fine fashion or Logitech in sports accessories – punch above their weight.
  • Opponents can compete: New players like Nuuly and Anthropic are gaining traction with strong positioning and momentum.
  • Verticals behave differently: Some, like Business & Professional Services, remain highly competitive, while others reward consistency or focus.

These awards underscore what many marketers are beginning to face: AI visibility is now part of the competitive equation. For some brands, it’s already a molding strategy.
