Navarro says ‘Venezuela derangement syndrome’ lured Trump into war with Iran

CNBC’s Sara Eisen clashed with The View Friday panelists, arguing that President Donald Trump’s military operations in Iran will keep future generations of Americans safe, but her panelists were not convinced.

Eisen, who was the guest host, said that a lawsuit could be filed against Iran, saying, “It’s a great opportunity so that our children don’t have to deal with the state’s biggest sponsor of nuclear terrorism.”

“When they get a nuclear weapon, and threaten our partners, Israel, or Eastern Europe, it will be too late,” he warned.

“So you feel safe today?” “Look” host Ana Navarro asked.

Eisen asserted that he truly felt safe knowing that the United States was working to prevent the proliferation of a potential nuclear threat. Host Sara Haines, while sympathetic to his view, argued that the past has lessons to be learned.

“I agree with all the points you just brought up. My fear going in, even though I saw getting the leadership out of Iran was a good thing, what was – how are we going to get out?” he asked. “Because we watched this in Iraq. We watched what happened.”

Haines went on to argue that Iran would not only be a dangerous place to attack, but an impossible war because of the succession of Iranian leadership. (The Trump administration says most of Iran’s leadership was killed in strikes during Operation Epic Fury.)

Haines also noted that there is an extreme culture in Iran among its leadership, to the point of “honoring death” where loyalists of the Iranian regime believe that martyrdom for the enemy provides eternal reward in the afterlife. This, he argued, has no equivalent in America.

When Eisen said Trump really knows the American public has no desire for another long-term war, Sunny Hostin jokingly replied, “Do you think you have a plan or ‘ideas for a plan?'”

“I believe they have a lot more than you’re giving them credit for,” Eisen replied, citing the many strategic plans they’ve put in place.

Navarro later went on to argue that Trump made a big mistake with Iran.

“Frankly, I think — I think Trump has what my friend calls ‘Venezuela derangement syndrome,’ and he thought that removing the regime and getting people to work with Iran would be as easy as it was in Venezuela, and it proved to be a completely different ball of wax,” Navarro said.

White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales told Fox News Digital that Trump had four different goals for Operation Epic Fury.

“The Trump-Deranged wackos on The View have no talent and are a very limited TV show,” Wales said. “President Trump launched Operation Epic Fury with four distinct goals: Destroy the Iranian regime’s ballistic missiles and production, destroy the Iranian regime’s military, eliminate their ability to arm proxies, and ensure that Iran will never acquire a nuclear weapon. Countries and our allies.”
