A civil rights group is criticizing social networking site LinkedIn and online conservatives are threatening to boycott the site after a post from the group supporting President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration was temporarily removed in what the company called a mistake.

“.@DHSgov is doing an important job keeping our country safe,” the State Freedom Caucus Network posted on Jan. 27 on multiple platforms including X and LinkedIn.

“Biden has allowed over 10M illegal aliens into our states, many of whom are violent criminals and child abusers. All states must ensure cooperation with ICE and CBP to remove them. Our congressmen are on the front lines leading their states to support @POTUS’ mission to keep Americans safe!”

Thursday, SFCN he revealed a screenshot indicating that while the post was approved by X, it was flagged as “hate speech” by LinkedIn and removed.

“Apparently protecting children is ‘hateful,’ but allowing predators to roam is OK,” wrote SFCN. “@elonmusk isn’t blocking us, but @LinkedIn is! We’ll be deleting our account because of it.”

Conservatives on social media quickly began calling out the social media company, which was co-founded by liberal megadonor Reid Hoffman before he sold the company to Microsoft, where he sits on the board.

“Everyone delete LinkedIn,” Townhall columnist Dustin Grage posted on X. “It’s a junkyard that offers little value.”

“How hateful is it to look for pedos in the streets?? ?? Why are you criticizing Conservatives?? @LinkedIn,” the account of Conservative influencer LibsofTikTok posted on X. “DELETE YOUR LINKEDIN ACCOUNT.”

A LinkedIn spokesperson backtracked, telling Fox News Digital: “This was removed in error, and we quickly fixed it.”

Andrew Roth, president of the State Freedom Caucus Network, told Fox News Digital that he received a “removal notice” via email and after the status was posted on LibsofTikTok, he received another email saying the removal was a mistake.

“Initially, your post was removed for violating our policies,” Roth was told by LinkedIn. “As part of our review, we now find that your post does not violate our policies and apologize for the error.”

Roth told Fox News Digital, “Yes, of course.”

“I think wokeism is still alive, but we will continue to fight it. The first step is to not talk to LinkedIn again. The second step is to tell the world what to do.”

Conservatives have long criticized research and perceived bias in social media and although this position was reinstated a few hours after it was taken down, Daniel Cochrane, Heritage Foundation Senior Research Associate at the Center for Technology and the Human Person, told Fox News Digital that this situation represents a “predictable model” that Big Tech platforms often operate under.

“Censor first and apologize later,” Cochrane said.

“While forums are always looking for ‘error’ or ‘miscommunication’ content rating systems and processes operate in a black box,” Cochrane added. “The opaque nature of these programs leads to a lack of accountability.”

Cochrane went on to say that even if the platforms are not “obviously targeting” a particular group or message, “a liberal bias” can often be “incorporated into their algorithmic moderation systems that equally flag and downgrade voices.”

“Without greater accountability, the unfair nature of contract research is a feature of the Big Tech platform, not a bug.”
