LIZ PEEK: War critics on wrong side of history as Iran celebrates Trump strike shocks US left

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!
The left in the US is very confused. While Iranians around the world are celebrating the death of the dictator Ayatollah Khamanei, who ruled their country with an iron fist, US liberals are criticizing President Donald Trump’s war to liberate the Persian nation.
Opposition to a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran was broad and swift, fueled in part by Trump Derangement Syndrome — if he’s behind it, they’re reliably against it — and also by antisemitism.
The smoke had barely cleared from the bombing of Iran before Democrats began to voice their opposition, for example, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, calling it “illegal and a mistake of an incredible degree,” and denouncing the president as a “tyrant.” Murphy has also called Israel’s policy in Gaza and the West Bank “dirty”, and recently announced that he would not cut back on more military aid to Israel.
Anti-Israel Democrats in the House were very vocal, with “Squad” member Rashida Tlaib of Michigan posting, “It is clear that the government that is killing the people of Israel has no regard for children + human life including our loved ones in war.” He also wrote, “The Israeli government is addicted to bombing hospitals, schools, refugee camps which are war crimes.”
Democrats have been backing away from their traditional support for Israel, and especially as the far left has taken hold of their party. Axios reported in December that a secret DNC ”autopsy” into why Vice President Kamala Harris lost to Trump in 2024 concluded that the former VP “lost significant support because of the way the Biden administration handled the war in Gaza …”
Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States and the Middle East for decades.
Which is to say, in sifting through the ashes of the 2024 election for clues as to why an illiterate who admittedly couldn’t think of anything to do differently from the wildly unpopular Joe Biden on fire, Democrat officials decided…Israel’s fault! The Democrats are learning fast – their support for the Jewish state is rapidly diminishing.
It’s not just the Democrats who are stacking up. Criticism also came from far-right conspiracy theorists, too.
FROM TECHNOLOGY TO WEAPONS: EXPLANATION OF THE STRATEGY BEHIND THE IRAN STRIKE
We are also hearing criticism from the totally ineffective and anti-Israel UN, with Secretary-General António Guterres condemning the US-Israeli airstrikes in Iran and calling for urgent negotiations “to pull the region, and our world, back from the brink.”

Guterres presides over the UN “with a clear anti-Israel bias, promoting biased and one-sided efforts to isolate and remove the Jewish state,” reported the pro-Jewish group AIPAC. The bias of AIPAC can also write surprisingly, “which has increased significantly since the attacks of Hamas’ 7 October.”
Spineless European leaders stood aside, initially distancing themselves from US-Israeli. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer initially refused to give the US permission to use its air bases, thus forcing US jets to travel 20 hours and more to carry out their mission. He then withdrew, receiving mockery from all sides.
US RELEASED TO USE BRITISH BASES TO LIMIT IRANIAN MISSILE CAPABILITIES
Of course, naive students have also weighed in, with Columbia University’s most famous anti-Israel group, responsible for last year’s “camp” set up to protest the Gaza conflict, sending “death to America” in Persian after the US and Israel assassinated Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. That made Sen. Tex Cruz, R-Texas, to demand that foreign students who send such anti-American messages be “immediately expelled.” You are right.
One student protester told an interviewer that the US “should side with the Iranian regime instead of Israel because Iran is “not fascist.”
Zohran Mamdani, the newly appointed Muslim Mayor of New York, strongly criticized President Trump’s war with Iran, saying, “Today’s military strikes on Iran – carried out by the United States and Israel – show a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression.” He also said, “Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city – you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders.” The mayor assured them, “You will be safe here.”
Mamdani misread the room, thinking that Iranians living in the US would react as he had to attack the mullahs. Instead, jubilant Iranians gathered in Times Square to celebrate the end of the most hateful and brutal regime in history.
IRANIAN-AMERICAN DEMOCRAT ‘VERY ANGRY’ AT PARTY’S RESPONSE TO US-ISRAEL STRIKES
They obviously felt completely safe, as indeed they were.
There are good reasons to fear a military conflict with Iran. The country has an arsenal of ballistic missiles, a well-trained and now vindictive military, and could disrupt the world’s oil supply by drilling the Straits of Hormuz. Also, it is a big country with 90 million people; The citizens of Iran may hate the mullahs but they do not have the weapons to overthrow democracy with them.

But Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States and the Middle East for decades. There will be no peace or progress in the region while Iran continues to sponsor its terrorist proxies and aggressively pursue long-range missiles and a nuclear bomb.
Democrats bemoaning the scrapping of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, arguing that the JCPOA prevented the regime from getting a nuke, surely know better. This agreement was very flawed, it could not be verified and from the first day the mullahs prevented the UN inspectors from making a certificate that this agreement was agreed.

President Trump ended the mullahs’ reign of terror and united the region in a way no one could have imagined.
This is a good effort. Let’s hope that on the other hand, a free Iran will be a reliable partner.
