FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Homeland Security fired the top Customs and Border Protection official on Thursday after it was revealed that the official allegedly leaked sensitive, personal information about CBP employees, as well as discussions about the border wall to the media, sources inside the department told Fox News Digital.

The official, who was not named, was removed from his CBP office in Washington, DC, after DHS discovered the leak, the sources said.

“With DHS law enforcement dealing with an 8000% increase in death threats, the leak of sensitive information is a serious threat,” a DHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “DHS has no information about your position, position, political appointment, or position as a public servant – we will track down whistleblowers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

The news comes days after a Fox News Digital investigation revealed an underground communications network used by anti-US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agitators across the country. Tactics include doxxing agents, tracking license numbers and releasing personal information about agents.

Fox News Digital has also learned that at least 13 information systems are now known to store data, including personal information and photos, similar information, behavioral patterns, phone numbers, and other sensitive material.

Last week, FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency was investigating the now widely publicized Signal text messages that allowed protesters to communicate to prevent and confront federal agents in Minneapolis and cities across the country.

It is unclear whether the officer who was fired on Thursday had any involvement in the Signal team’s operations, as DHS sources can only confirm media leaks.

A similar investigation by Fox News Digital reveals that sensitive information is at the center of what drives vigilante-style agitation to hot spots for protests.

A nationwide web of hundreds of anti-ICE groups is facilitating a “rapid response” program to train citizens and call them to action. Federal law enforcement officials have clashed with trained and allegedly well-funded activists many times. This conflict has led to attacks on agents, raising concerns about the potential physical and negative consequences for both the perpetrators and the agents.

One such arrest was that of Kyle Wagner, a self-proclaimed Antifa member and Minneapolis resident who was arrested after Wagner was accused of encouraging supporters to attack ICE agents. In a video obtained by Fox News Digital, he can be heard telling fans to “get your guns” and point at the agents.

Announcing his arrest, Attorney General Pam Bondi said Wagner “is accused of denying police killings, inciting bloodshed in the streets, and proudly claiming affiliation with the terrorist organization Antifa before he fled.”

Wagner’s case and the revelation of a multi-channel social media network allegedly being used to push and encourage protesters to confront ICE agents are being investigated by multiple federal agencies.

The firing of a senior CBP officer is just the latest development in a series of whistleblowers exposing federal law enforcement officials who could put agents or their families at risk.
