The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said on Friday that government agencies terminated or reduced 55 contracts in the past three days at a combined cost of $1.6 billion, seeking savings of $542 million.

DOGE, whose name acknowledges Elon Musk’s high-profile involvement, was launched in the opening days of President Donald Trump’s administration as part of a broader effort to reshape government spending and bureaucracy.

Although Musk has backed away from the project, elements of the DOGE framework are still in effect across government agencies.

In a post on X, the department wrote: “Contract Review! In the past 3 days, agencies have terminated and eliminated 55 wasteful contracts with a cap value of $1.6B and savings of $542M.”

DOGE also referred to “DoW’s $151k educational services contract for the ‘Director Development Program in Leadership – Partnership Course to be held at Northwestern University’,” according to the post.
