Israeli strikes in Gaza kill nearly 20, including 2 infants, hospitals say, asking, “Where is the ceasefire?”

Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip – The invasion of Israel Gaza Wednesday morning killed at least 19 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to hospital officials. Israel said the strikes would continue and called them a response to an Israeli military attack that left one person seriously injured.
Among the Palestinians killed were five children, including a five-month-old and a ten-day-old baby; seven women; and an emergency physician, hospital officials said. They were the latest Palestinians killed in Gaza since a A peace plan created by the USwhich included deadly Israeli strikes, went into effect on Oct. 10, 2025.
More than 530 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire during that time, according to the health ministry run by Hamas in Gaza.
The Israeli Defense Forces, in a statement on Wednesday, accused Hamas terrorists of “deliberately violating the current ceasefire agreement” and allegedly attacking soldiers in northern Gaza.
“After the fire was detected, the IDF armed itself [tanks] and the IAF [Israeli Air Force] planes were striking the area,” said the military.

“The war to exterminate our people in the Gaza Strip continues,” said Dr. Mohamed Abu Selmiya, director of Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital, in a Facebook post. “Where is the ceasefire? Where are the mediators?”
An Israeli military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in accordance with military policy, told The Associated Press that Israel would continue to strike the patch. Since the start of the ceasefire, the Israeli military has defended the deadly strikes by saying it was in response to Hamas violations or attacks by its own forces. The military says four soldiers have died since the ceasefire began.
Mediators condemned the attack and Hamas called it a violation of the agreement.
In the early hours of Wednesday, Israeli soldiers opened fire on a building in the Tuffah area of northern Gaza, killing at least 11 people, most of them from the same family, said Shifa Hospital, which received the bodies. The dead include two parents, their 10-day-old girl, her five-month-old cousin and their grandmother.
The Israeli military said its planes and armed forces returned fire after the terrorists opened fire on the soldiers, seriously injuring a soldier who was taken to hospital. Israel called the military attack a violation of the agreement.
After the Tuffah strike, Israeli fire continued along the border, hospital officials said. An Israeli strike on a family’s tent south of the town of Khan Younis killed three people, including a 12-year-old boy, said Nasser Hospital, which received the bodies. Tank fire in the Gaza City area east of Zaytoun killed three more Palestinians, according to Shifa Hospital, including a husband and his wife.

A tent strike in the Muwasi area of Khan Younis killed at least two people and injured five, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent-run hospital in the area. The dead included Hussein Hassan Hussein al-Semieri, a Palestinian Red Crescent paramedic who was on duty at the time, the hospital said.
More than 71,800 Palestinians have been killed since the war began, according to Gaza’s health ministry, which would not say how many were soldiers or civilians. The ministry, which is part of the Hamas-led government, keeps detailed records of casualties that are deemed reliable by UN agencies and independent experts. They believe that the number of dead is very high because many bodies have yet to be removed from the rubble.
Israel disputes the ministry’s figures, but has not provided figures for casualties in Gaza since it began war with Hamas in response to the group’s attack on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 Israelis and saw 251 others captured.
