Hobby Lobby is giving away 500,000 free copies of Lee Strobel’s “The Christmas Case: A Reporter Investigates the Identity of the Baby in the Manger” just in time for Christmas, according to the author.
Strobel announced the deal himself earlier this month on his X account.
“People send me pictures of a Free Gift they got at Hobby Lobby after shopping there — my new book The Case for Christmas! Hobby Lobby is giving away half a million free copies to customers in their stores! I pray that God will use them to point people to Him!” Strobel wrote on Dec. 3.

He also promoted his gift on December 6, posting a photo of himself outside one of the giant’s locations.
“Hobby Lobby stores across the country are giving customers FREE copies of my new book The Case for Christmas as long as they make half a million copies! On Saturday, Leslie and I visited their store in Paducah, KY and met some amazing people,” Strobel wrote.

Commenting on Fox News Digital, Strobel said Hobby Lobby first approached his publisher, Zondervan, with the idea.
“I liked this idea because the holiday is often commercialized and focused on religious things, but this book examines the historical evidence of the Christmas story and sets the record straight on many misconceptions,” said Strobel.

He added that since then, he has received many emails and photos from people who were surprised and happy to find what he called a “spiritual prison.”
“What makes the Christmas story so inspiring is that it’s true – and I hope this book will open many eyes to why even an atheist like myself has embraced its historical roots,” Strobel said.
Fox News Digital has also reached out to Hobby Lobby for comment.
An atheist, Strobel converted to Christianity in 1981 and since then has written several books focusing on the defense of the faith, such as “The Case of Christ,” “The Case of Faith,” “The Case of the Creator,” “The Case of Grace,” “The Story of Miracles,” “The Story of Heaven,” “Is God Real?” and “Seeing the Supernatural.”

“From the beginning, our goal was to honor God in everything we do. We worked hard and God gave results. Since we were blessed by God, we felt it was a great honor to give back. We were able to give hope through supporting ministries and planting churches around the world,” Green told Fox News in 2022.
