Google Brings Personal Intelligence to AI Mode in Google Search

Personal Intelligence, first introduced to the Gemini app last week, is already rolling out to some users in AI Mode within Google Search. “Starting today, Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers can sign in to securely connect Gmail and Google Photos in AI Mode,” announced Robby Stein, VP of Product, Google Search.
Personalized Intelligence in AI mode allows Google Search to give you a more personalized answer to your questions by connecting to your Google ecosystem, including Google Search, Gmail, Photos, and your YouTube history. This will start in the next few days for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in English in the US
How can you see it. This is a Labs feature and you can access this feature here. Available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in English in the US Google said these users “will have access to this feature automatically as it becomes available.” This feature is available for personal Google accounts but not for Workspace business, business or education users, yet.
You can try to turn it on manually in your settings, by taking these steps:
1) Open Search and tap your profile
2) Click Search for personalization
3) Select Linked Content Programs
4) Connect Workplace and Google Photos
Examples. Here are some examples of questions you can ask:
- Help me plan weekend trips with my family based on the things we like to do
- Do a scavenger hunt [partner’s name] to celebrate our anniversary. In each area, enter a hint about us
- I decorate [child’s name] bedroom, give me theme ideas and decorating suggestions
- If I were the heroine/hero of a book, who would I be?
- What particular fashion season am I really into?
- Recommend some books that are relevant to where I am in my life right now
- If I were a perfume [or cologne]what are my top notes and base notes?
Here’s a video of it in action:
Why do we care. Again, this is currently entry-only, just like the search labs test. One day, it may even graduate to an automated Google Search experience within AI mode.
The more personalized the results will be and tracking which website citations show up for one search versus another, the more difficult it will be.
