As the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics begin, all eyes will be on teams from around the world proudly donning their national uniforms at Friday’s opening ceremony – including Team USA with clothes designed by Ralph Lauren.
It’s an exciting time for thousands of athletes who have gathered in northern Italy to take part in the first Olympics shared between two cities that will host what will be the most widespread winter games in history.
The Winter Olympics will continue until Feb. 22, with 116 medal events, including ski mountaineering in its Olympic debut. The Paralympics will run from March 6 to March 15.
As the Games continue, here’s a look at some of the costumes for the Olympic opening ceremony. This story will be updated with more notable looks as the teams begin to play.
Team USA 2026 Olympic Opening Ceremony uniforms
Ralph Lauren has designed Team USA’s uniforms for 10 consecutive Olympic Games now, and dressing the nation’s athletes for nearly 20 years is “an honor that will never fade,” said David Lauren, chief marketing and innovation officer for the Ralph Lauren Corporation.
The opening ceremony uniform includes a winter white wool coat with wood-inspired toggles, wool trousers and an American flag intarsia wool sweater, Ralph Lauren said. The look includes a red, white and blue intarsia knit hat and mittens, a leather belt and suede alpine boots with red laces.

According to the company, “every item on the uniform is proudly manufactured in the United States.”

The designs are inspired by clothing from the Great Mongol Empire of the 13th-15th centuries. Made from premium Mongolian cashmere, finished with silk and decorated with traditional horn motifs, Goyol and the Mongolian National Olympic Committee said in a joint Instagram post.
“Using Mongolian cashmere – long trusted by our nomadic people to endure harsh winters – we have created festive sweaters that honor traditional history and culture, as well as premium knit ensembles inspired by alpine ski sweaters rooted in Western mountain culture, decorated with images of Mongolian ger and nomadic life,” the post reads.
