Friends of Eric Dane are stepping up after the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor died this week at the age of 53 after a battle with ALS.

Family friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, after their father’s battle with the deadly disease.

The GoFundMe page includes a statement issued by his loved ones, while mourning the loss of the beloved actor, who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

“It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Eric Dane after a difficult battle with ALS,” the statement read. “He he leaves his devoted wifeRebecca Gayheart, and two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”

The fundraiser is designed to give her daughters financial stability.

The money raised will cover their education, housing, and other important needs as they “face uncertainty” without their father, the page’s creators explained.

It emphasizes the great loss the family is dealing with but also celebrates Dane’s legacy as an advocate for ALS awareness, as his own life quickly deteriorated.

“After his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate advocate for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for his fellow patients and to raise awareness,” the page reads. “Any donation, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and into the future for Eric’s beautiful daughters.”

The donation goal was set at $250,000, with “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson and his wife, Ashley, contributing $27,000.

News of the fundraising comes after the release of a deeply personal video interview Dane recorded last November on Netflix’s “Famous Last Words.” The emotional photos captured Dane’s final messages to his daughters.

“Billie and Georgia, these words are for you,” Dane said, his voice cracking as he spoke directly to the camera. “I tried. Sometimes I stumbled, but I tried. All in all, we had a blast, didn’t we?”

He shared fond memories, including the times he spent playing in the ocean with his daughters – calling them his “water babies.” The actor then gave his daughters many life lessons that he hoped they would stick with forever.

He was very encouraging his two daughters to live in the moment.

“The present is all you have. Respect it. Cherish every moment,” she urged in part, thinking about how ALS forced her to stop worrying about the future and just live in the moment.

Dane also emphasized the importance of love to his two daughters. “Find love in your life, whether you’re rich or in love,” he advises, recounting how acting has been his saving grace in the toughest of times. “That love ended up bringing me into very difficult times… My work doesn’t define me, but it makes me happy.”

The “Grey’s Anatomy” star ended her message by encouraging her daughters to face life’s challenges with grace.

“This disease is slowly taking over my body, but it will never take over my spirit,” he said. “So when something unexpected hits you, and will fight and face it with honesty, integrity and grace. Even if it feels insurmountable, I hope I’ve shown that you can face anything.”
