When Tiger Woods crashed his car last Friday, arguably his most valuable possession was in his trunk: his golf clubs.
Woods’ 2025 Range Rover flipped onto its driver’s side in the crash and about two hours later, the 15-time major champion was arrested for driving under the influence.
Authorities arrived at the scene and spoke with Woods’ manager, Rob McNamara, who said the clubs were very important.

“I hear you,” the deputy said, as body camera footage was shown. “It’s more important than my house.”
“The putter is more important than all of our houses,” McNamara replied.
Woods later said that “sticks” were all he needed, especially the putter, with which he “won 14 majors”. Woods used another putter in the 1997 Masters, his first major victory, which he won by 12 strokes.

The camera deputy told the towing officer that there was “expensive s—” in the trunk from a “high-level person” that needed to be removed from the vehicle. However, due to the crash, the trunk could not be opened. So, a member of the local fire department smashed the rear windshield, and authorities smoked clubs through the windshield and handed them to McNamara, keeping them safe and sound.
The clubs were in a Monster Energy branded bag, and his driver was covered in Woods’ infamous tiger head cover.

The deputy found one of Woods’ Sun Day Red shirts, which he joked was worth more than his salary.
Woods was placed in the car after failing a field sobriety test, taken after he showed “signs of impairment” and was “tired.” He blew “triple-zeroes” into a breathalyzer, but after failing to submit to a urine test, he was hit with another charge. Police found two pills later identified as hydrocodone, a prescription opioid used for pain relief.
Woods previously told law enforcement before a sobriety test that he had seven back surgeries and “over 20 surgeries on his leg.” He told law enforcement that he was “taking a few prescription medications.” In 2021, he was involved in an accident that resulted in a serious leg injury that kept him off the golf course for a year.
Woods told officials he is “hopeful” to play in the Masters, but in a statement earlier this week, Woods said he would put his desire to return to the golf course on hold to “seek medical treatment.”

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am taking time off to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary to prioritize my well-being and work towards a lasting recovery,” said Woods. in the statement Tuesday’s social media post.
“I am committed to taking the time necessary to get back to a healthy, strong, and focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and I am asking for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
