A Day in the Life of Crystal – January 8, 2026

Welcome to explore my life! Last Thursday, January 8, 2026, I posted my day on Instagram stories. So many people liked it, that I wanted to share it here on the blog, too, for those who missed it.
4:07 a.m – Hello! My Hatch alarm goes off around 4:05 am and I usually wake up between then and 4:25 am. I love how gentle it is to wake up and have loved it ever since Jesse got it for my birthday!
I put on my workout clothes while I oil pull and wash my face, moisturize, brush my teeth, and sit down to read a prayer book from this study by Becky Keife and my current study You Learn the Truth. I eat half a banana in my pre-workout drink. (I use this amber lamp to study so that my body wakes up slowly and slowly without harsh light.)
4:40 a.m – I go to the gym for my 5 am class. When I drive, I pray for my day and I pray for each member of my family. I love this time of the morning when everything is so quiet!
5:00 a.m – I go to a GTX class held 6 days a week (I usually go 4) and it’s a mix of strength training and cardio and I target different muscle groups each day.
We spend time on treadmills and time on the floor with weights. I love that every day is different!
Here is today’s workout.
6:00 a.m – I drink an Orgain shake early in the morning after my workout. It’s 30 grams of protein and I think it tastes great. (Also pictured: my favorite bottle of Owala and the gym bag that I take with me every day to the gym!)
The best part of post-workout: showering in the gym in peace and quiet. If you have small children, I think you might understand! 🙂
6:25 a.m – headed home from the gym! I’m wearing my @actsofsourdough Sourdough Season sweatshirt that I bought at one of her drops recently.
6:30 a.m – Driving home from the gym while listening to worship music and watching the sun rise. This song has been on repeat for me lately.
When I get home, I sit outside and get some sunlight and read a devotional from New Morning Mercies + a chapter from this book by Nicole C. Mullen.
6:50 a.m – every morning when I come back from the gym, I sit in the car and check emails and post the best deals on our Facebook page. I usually work 30 minutes while Jesse helps the kids inside get ready for school/breakfast.
7:20 a.m – one of my favorite parts of the morning – going to my happy children who are all ready for school.
We lay out their clothes the night before (Kierstyn takes care of hers and I help Micah with his) and the kids get up, brush their teeth, get dressed, take their vitamins, and Jesse helps them get breakfast. They are usually really happy in the morning and as long as we set everything the night before (including back packs and lunch), the morning is really smooth.
7:30 a.m – I did Kierstyn’s hair and then helped the kids load into the car and grabbed my remaining banana before the workout and headed to school.
8:30 a.m – picked up a few things we needed + put something down at Kroger!
9:30 a.m – I got home and washed, quickly picked up the house, talked to Jesse, and fed my starter to bake sourdough tonight. And I made my daily red leaf tea with Nutpods creamer.
10:00 a.m – did Facebook live and TikTok in stores I found in Kroger I put groceries.
10:30 a.m – I went to a gastroenterologist for the first time: My functional medicine doctor wanted me to go as we were trying to find the root cause of my chronic anemia (which I have had for 20+ years) + I had a few other problems that he wanted to check.
11:00 a.m – I was impressed with the doctors and the clinic – everyone was incredibly kind and I couldn’t believe I was only there for an hour! They scheduled my first endoscopy and colonoscopy for February. Good times! 🙂 (I read Only Woman in the Room.)
While I was waiting, I posted a mid-day meeting of the best deals on Facebook and edited and posted my video on TikTok.
11:45 a.m – Heading to the mall after my appointment to take a bunch of photos and videos for the blog and Facebook and our deals Instagram account @msmdeals to promote Bath & Body Works’ Half Yearly Sale (crazy great deals!!)
12:15 p.m – I sit in the car and eat a snack (see below) and answer emails/message/check Facebook/check our group chat/do a Facebook live on the top 5 deals from today.
Here is what I have for you. (I love these IQ bars. Have you tried them?)
1:45 p.m – back home and recording a podcast with Jesse on my Fun List for 2026 (coming out tomorrow!)
(Jesse picked up Micah from school and he fell asleep on the way home so he took a nap while we filmed.) Also – had another Quest Cheese Crackers snack. I was hungry today!! Also, he had a Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin that is not pictured.
2:00 p.m – I had a Zoom call with several other female entrepreneurs. It was such an encouragement!
2:45 p.m – Jesse went to pick up Kierstyn and Micah. I made a big salad and sourdough toast for lunch and watched When Calls the Heart while I worked on some different planning projects, emails, and Facebook.
3:30 p.m – This boy woke up and wanted to join me until I turned on the children’s program while I was working and he berated me. I checked my calendar and to-do’s for the next few days, answered urgent emails and went through messages on Instagram, posted a message on Facebook, picked up the hot deals newsletter, and uploaded all the Bath & Body Works photos I took.
6:00 p.m – Time to eat! (Jesse got home with Kierstyn and David around 4:30pm and the kids watched the show and played independently while I worked and Jesse worked on projects. I cooked dinner in about 10 minutes because we just used leftovers from the previous two nights.)
Jesse’s plate: rice with chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, vegetables and salsa.
Dinner time with these three isn’t quiet yet, but we’re working on table manners and making slow and steady progress. (Kaitlynn and Silas had dinner with friends tonight.)
6:45 p.m – They put on their jammies, took their vitamins, brushed their teeth and studied together while I prepared everything in the morning.
What I prepare every night to prepare the next day for success:
My go-to Bible readings include a red light and a pre-workout banana.
My gym bag with my clothes for tomorrow, a protein shake, and my electrolyte water in my favorite Ovala water bottle!
Backpacks, folders, lunches.
My perfect workout outfit that includes shoes and socks.
7:00 p.m – I snuggled with the children and read with them.
7:15 p.m – Making sour dough! I timed myself and it took me 12 minutes to mix the dough for two loaves.
The dough is done – I let it sit on the counter for an hour and stretch it a bit before going to bed. I will mold and bake one loaf in the morning and stick the second loaf in the fridge to bake in a few days.
Lunch/snack for tomorrow – chicken, avocado, applesauce, raspberries, pumpkin chocolate chip muffin, Bobo’s bar.
7:30 p.m – Head down to wrap up work – answer a few messages from my team, go live on Facebook, edit something on Facebook, and make a reel. Check out the reel I made here.
I decided this year to just have fun with Instagram and create/post what I want to do – even if it’s not the kind that an algorithm might show to a crowd of people. It feels free.
8:15 p.m – Stretch and fold – this takes 30 seconds!
8:30 p.m – I was planning to go to bed now, but he surprised me by calling saying he is coming home to spend the night and can we run at night together?? THAT’S IT!! So, we got out and ran a mile and a half together.
9:00 p.m – I took a quick shower, got ready for bed (face wash, massage, Neilmed sinus rinse), and took my vitamins/supplements with some OJ. In addition, use progesterone cream.
And that wraps it up – thanks for joining me today!! It is SO FUN to share my life with you all! Since I’m going to bed later than expected and I ran tonight, I think I’ll skip the 5 am class at the gym tomorrow and go Saturday morning… that way I can sleep in until 5:45 tomorrow to make sure I get 7+ hours of sleep!
Would you like to share A Day in My Life with me here from time to time? If so, I’d love for you to comment or email me to let me know! And if you have any questions about my day above, let me know and I’ll do my best to answer them!
