American figure skater Amber Glenn fired back at critics on Tuesday following her gold medal win in the team event at the Winter Olympics.
Glenn, who said he was taking a break from social media because of “hateful” comments after criticizing President Donald Trump’s administration, returned to TikTok with photos of himself and Alysa Liu. He directed his captions at those who apparently came after him.

“They hate to see two risen —-es win,” Glenn wrote. “If ‘Woke’ means people who use their platforms to speak up for marginalized communities in the country they actively represent …… Is that right?”
Glenn ripped the Trump administration at a pre-Olympics press conference last week, saying it had been a “difficult time” for him and members of the LGBT community. It was one of the few political statements made by US athletes ahead of the Winter Games.

“It’s been a difficult time for the (LGBTQ) community in general in this administration,” he said, via USA Today. “It’s not the first time we’ve had to come together as a community and try to fight for our rights. And now especially, it’s not just affecting the elephant community, but many other communities, and I think we’re able to support each other in a way that we didn’t have to before, and because of that, it’s made us a lot stronger.”
Glenn added that the issue he is talking about is something he will not be silent about.
The internet backlash was enough to keep him out for a few days.
“When I chose to use one of the wonderful things about the United States of America (Freedom of Speech) to express how I feel as an athlete competing for Team USA in a difficult time for many Americans, I now receive horrible hate/threats to use my voice WHEN ASKED about how I feel,” he wrote in his dated post on Instagram.
