He is looking up (formerly known as GetUpside) is a mobile app that provides cash back at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. It’s free to download on iOS or Android.
Right now, their main focus and main source of income is gas stations (but they’re in the process of adding more grocery stores and restaurants every day, so keep checking back to see what’s available in your area!).

How does the Upside App work?
To save money on electricity, just follow these steps:
- Go HERE.
- Sign up.
- Check the map to find offers in your area.
- Find offers near you.
- Fill within 4 hours to use.
- There are two ways to use: by sending a receipt or by giving your card number in the places with blue lightning.
- Print the receipt and send it. Or choose which card you use for quick processing without the need to submit a receipt. (Look for the blue lightning bolt – only available in select areas.)
- That’s all! You will get your money back in 2-4 days!
I used the app today when I filled up with gas. I filled up at a Shell station that had a blue light, and it was SO easy. It is now showing as processing in my account and I will see the money back in a few days!

Gas Saving App: How Much Can You Save With the Upside App?
With gas rewards, you’ll typically earn up to $0.25/gallon depending on location. So if you fill up 15 gallons, that’s a $3.75 savings each! Not bad!!
But it doesn’t stop there! They have a great referral program, which allows you to earn more. You’ll get a $0.15/gallon bonus when you refer a friend (and you’ll get an additional $0.15/gallon bonus on the second fuel up).
Also, shippers will continue to earn an additional $0.01/gallon each time their shipment receives an Upside gas offer. Very nice!
How do you cash out with the Upside Gas App?
You can withdraw money via paypal, gift cards, or direct deposit.
You’ll need to reach a $15 limit for PayPal withdrawals, a $50 limit for direct deposit, and gift cards vary slightly by brand.
They also have a huge selection of popular gift cards to choose from, including Apple, Amazon, Starbucks, Dunkin, Panera, Kohl’s, Home Depot, Target, CVS, Ace Hardware, Walmart, and more!
