President Donald Trump will send Border Patrol Czar Tom Homan to Minnesota, the president announced Monday.

Trump said Homan will report “directly to me,” and will help lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minneapolis and St. Louis. The Justice Department and Congress are also investigating Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., said Trump.

“I’m sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight. He didn’t participate in that place, but he knows and likes a lot of people there. Tom is tough but good, and he will report directly to me,” Trump wrote in his Public Truth forum.

“Separately, a major investigation is underway into the 20 Billion Dollar, Plus, Welfare Fraud that took place in Minnesota, and is at least partially responsible for the organized violent protests that are taking place in the streets,” he continued.

“Furthermore, the DOJ and Congress are targeting ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan Omar, who left Somalia WITH NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth over 44 Million Dollars. Time will tell,” he added.

Homan’s deployment comes amid widespread unrest in the Twin Cities over ICE deployments. Two anti-ICE protesters were killed by federal agents this month, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti.

Pretti’s killing over the weekend is still under investigation.

White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt did not specify whether Homan’s deployment means Trump has lost confidence in the current leadership of ICE in Minnesota.

“Tom Homan will be managing ICE’s operations on the ground in Minnesota and coordinating with others in ongoing fraud investigations,” Leavitt told Fox News Digital.

The Trump administration has accused organized lobbyists of undermining the operations of ICE, which targets illegal immigrants.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether Trump has lost confidence with legislative leaders already on the ground in Minnesota.

Federal officials say there is violence riot in Minneapolis directly disrupted immigration detention last week, leaving an ICE agent permanently injured after a protester cut off part of his finger.

US Border Patrol Agent at Large Greg Bovino said at a press conference on Sunday Border Patrol and ICE agents were forced to abandon the operation they were directing after mobs disrupted, assaulted officers and changed the scene.

He said because of this, the suspect escaped from custody. He blamed this only on the decisions taken by politicians, activists and those who deal with law enforcement officers.

“This person is still roaming the streets today,” Bovino said. “This person is walking the streets today because of those decisions made by politicians and those, perhaps, weak-minded people who chose to follow the directions of those politicians. It’s a sad situation.”
