Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin shared a photo on social media Saturday of a law enforcement officer’s finger being severed after an anti-ICE activist in Minneapolis allegedly bit it.
“In Minneapolis, these rioters attacked our law enforcement officer and one of them bit an HSI officer’s finger,” McLaughlin wrote in the post. “He’s going to lose his finger.”
He shared photos of two people who appeared to be in custody, although it is not yet clear which person is suspected of biting.
More details about the attack have not been released, despite ongoing protests that have escalated following the deaths of two American citizens during immigration enforcement in the green city.

Hours before McLaughlin’s post, a Border Patrol agent was seen on video shooting and killing an armed man in Minneapolis amid a crowd of protesters.
The man, 37, who is an American citizen in Minneapolis, allegedly approached the agents and “resisted violence,” while armed with a 9mm pistol and two magazines, according to Homeland Security officials.
Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino said at a press conference on Saturday that “look[ed] like a situation where someone wants to do a lot of damage and kill a lot of people.”

He also stressed that those who interfere with the implementation of the law are breaking the law and will be arrested.
