The chairman of Minnesota’s fraud commission says Walz ignored the problem for years

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!

Minnesota state representative Kristin Robbins, R., during an interview on Monday that Gov. Tim Walz, D., has been ignoring the signs of this massive, fraudulent fraud that is putting Minnesota nationally.

From daycares to nonprofits, immigrant communities in Minnesota have faced allegations of fraud in recent weeks, allegedly using state policies to take what some estimate to be as much as $9 billion dollars.

Although Walz and his office praised his work in dealing with the scandals, state lawmakers argued that he had been doing so for years and deliberately ignored whistleblowers. Robbins, chairman of Minnesota’s State Fraud Prevention and Policy Committee, was one of several lawmakers who called on Walz to resign during his re-election bid. He talked about this during an appearance Monday on The Will Cain Show.

Fox News host Lawrence Jones commented on the lawmaker, “it’s one thing to call on him to resign. He obviously won’t do that. But if he doesn’t, shouldn’t you guys impeach him for not only supporting the fraud and corruption here, but going after those whistleblowers?”

“Absolutely. I asked the governor to resign a few weeks ago. I think his disrespect for his job is unheard of,” said Robbins, who is running for governor.

“These callers have been raising the alarm for years,” he continued. “We’ve heard for almost a year now that he’s holding his agency accountable. He hasn’t fired anyone. He hasn’t taken steps to stop the fraud going forward, and he continues to make excuses. So I would really like him to resign, as I said a few weeks ago, even though I know others are looking at impeachment topics. But he’s responsible. He’s closed a seven-year clean branch office.”

Jones noted that Walz would have been Vice President of the United States if former Vice President Kamala Harris had won, asking Robbins what she thought the outcome would look like.

“Oh, it could be worse. I’m so grateful that President Trump led the DOGE effort to clean up state government, and we need to continue working to clean up state government here in Minnesota,” he replied. “And I’ve heard from other places around the country, they haven’t dealt with the scale of fraud that we have, but the same fraud. So we have to get involved in this. These are taxpayer dollars that have been stolen from taxpayers and should be helping vulnerable citizens, not fake students, fake recipients and sent overseas.”

Lawrence commented on his surprise that even though this scandal entered the national discourse, the fraud seems to continue, asking if people will face the consequences.

Robbins agreed, noting his shock that the payments were still being sent, “This just shows their lack of due diligence and internal controls. So we need to clean it up. We need to stop it and everyone should be prosecuted. I know the US attorney here is doing an amazing job. We’re very grateful that more resources are being put into the state by the federal government, but everyone should be prosecuting everyone. It’s taxpayer money.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Gov. Walz, they posted an article from the Minnesota Star Tribune titled, “GOP gubernatorial nominee faces criticism for handling fraud tips at DHS.” The article says Robbins has faced criticism from Democrats for taking information about fraud to the US Attorney’s Office instead of local authorities. Robbins is one of several lawmakers who say local government has retaliated against whistleblowers.

Walz’s office also shared a link with Minnesota Governor Scott Jensen, who said Robbins’ fraud committee “has not passed a single significant anti-fraud bill and according to several members of the committee, the focus has been on political prestige.”

Jensen praised the investigative video of independent reporter Nick Shirley exposing alleged fraudulent businesses, however, saying, “In the last 48 hours, Nick Shirley’s X Post about MN fraud has had 100 million views. He did exactly what the fraud committee and the Speaker of the House should have done – TAKE ACTION and stop running the wrong times to win!”

Walz’s office also posted a link to an op-ed in which he talks about how “the generosity of our state has been used by an organized group of fraudsters,” announcing that the state will restructure its thinking about questioning and dealing with bad faith actors.
