Four people have been charged in connection with a New Year’s Eve bombing plot that went down in Southern California, according to the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Court documents say the group planned to attack multiple businesses and began targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents after the holiday season.
Prosecutors suspect that these people are related to the anti-government group Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), whose members promote terrorism and aim to do “as much damage as possible.”
Authorities have identified the defendants as Audrey Illeene Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, Dante James Anthony-Gaffield and Tina Lai in the alleged bombing, which the group is calling “Operation Midnight Sun.” The members are facing various charges including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, supplying and attempting to support terrorists and possession of unregistered firearms.

Court documents said the four were planning to detonate pipe bombs targeting at least five locations, including technology and transportation businesses, throughout Southern California.
By early December 2025, the defendants allegedly took steps to obtain bomb-making materials and used encrypted messaging platforms to coordinate the construction and testing of explosives.

Authorities reported that Carroll, via encrypted messages, made shocking statements including “I identify as a terrorist,” “I’m a Hamas fangirl” and had plans to “completely demolish” buildings. He is said to have criticized the peaceful protests while discussing the dreams of law enforcement officers.
The terrorist plot was reportedly foiled on December 12, when the defendants went to the Mojave desert to inspect weapons but were suddenly caught by members of the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team.
Officials said that despite the defendants’ efforts to avoid detection — such as wrapping phones in tinfoil to create “makeshift Faraday bags” and using apps that automatically delete encrypted messages — law enforcement was able to thwart their plans with the help of informants and undercover agents.

Authorities revealed that defendant Carroll unknowingly shared the bombing plans with law enforcement personnel. For this, the FBI reportedly obtained copies of handwritten bombing plans, lists of materials needed to make bombs, and information about the group’s extremist messaging network.
Defendants Carroll and Page allegedly discussed their plans after the New Year’s Eve bombings, including targeting ICE agents and vehicles to intimidate and harm law enforcement, according to court documents.
All four defendants are expected to appear in federal court in the Central District of California.
