U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday said the United States was approaching “the end” of its conflict with Iran, while cautioning that the country “wants to be the next North Korea.”

Speaking to Hannity on Tuesday, Rubio said that Iran sought the ability to launch ICBM’s capable of reaching the United States, and they would have accomplished this goal, if President Trump had not pursued Operation Epic Fury.

“Iran sought to be the next North Korea except that while North Korea is run by an enigma but they are run by clerics in Iran that have intercontinental missiles that can reach the land of the United States, that is where they would have ended up if the President had not take action that he took.

Rubio accused the Iranian regime of misleading the public about its missile capabilities, saying officials are “in denial” that their missiles can reach London.

“[Abbas] Araghchi, their foreign minister, this guy is a liar,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “This guy was on TV like last week – two weeks ago – denying that Iran had any missiles that could exceed a certain limit.

Trump recently said the Iran conflict could last just a few weeks, as Operation Epic Fury approaches 33 days, with Rubio echoing that the end is near.

“We’ll also look whether or not that alliance has outlived its usefulness, since it has been of value to this country for a long time, whether it’s a one-way street where America’s protecting Europe and the partners we expect, should be protecting us, denied us their basic right,” he said on FOX News.

The President is scheduled to address the nation on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on the status of the U.S.-Iran war.
