Liam Neeson’s son shares a health update with his fans.
In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, March 3, Daniel Neeson revealed that he was born with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve, “a condition where the aortic valve has two leaflets instead of the normal three.” He explained that the condition affects about “2% of the population,” adding, “It can remain inactive for years before it begins to cause valve failure or aortic enlargement.”
“For me, I was tested twice a year for the rest of my life, monitoring my heart,” he wrote. “Finally, I began to feel a large dilation of the left ventricle and enlargement of the aorta. I knew it was close to medical intervention. Some people with BAV are operated on later in life, but I drew the grass for the early birds.”
Daniel’s symptoms led to the 29-year-old’s heart surgery, with his Instagram posting pictures of him in the hospital while being attached to wires and throughout the recovery process.

He shared with his followers that “There is nothing more empowering than understanding your life” and that it is important to “be proactive, not reactive.”
“There is something amazing about realizing that one of your greatest challenges has been quietly developing within you all your life,” he wrote. “No surprise warning. Just science, genetics, and time. I’ve always prided myself on pushing through battles and working to control my environment. This was different.”

He continued: “This required dedication. Being present. Letting go. Trusting the world-class surgeons and incredible nurses. Trusting the universe. I hope that even if I can’t control the outcome, I can control my mind and my inner knowing.”
In his words, Daniel emphasized that the process was “not about being afraid,” but “about leaning into the power of healing and being as present as possible,” adding that he viewed it as “a ceremony, not a process.”

He later thanked his surgeon and all the doctors and nurses in the ICU, calling them “some of the greatest people in the world,” noting that they “deserve all the credit in the world.”
“Thank you to my rock @natalieack and my family for being there everyday,” she wrote. “The road to recovery is beautiful, patient, and rewarding. Speak up for yourself and listen to your body. Everyone should have their heart checked by a cardiologist, even if they don’t have a known medical condition.”
Daniel ended his remarks with advice to his fans, encouraging them to “commit to the moment,” adding, “Don’t live in fear. The universe has your back when you learn to dance with it.”
Liam shares Daniel with his other son, Micheál, 30, with his late wife, actress Natasha Richardson, who died in 2009 from an epidural hematoma, sustained after hitting her head while skiing. At the time of his death, Michel was 13 years old and Daniel was 12 years old.

“Hopefully, I make you proud. I think you’d definitely be proud of my margarita skills. She was the OG margarita mom! When I was a kid, I’d ask her to drink hers, and she’d gently tell you not to grow up. Little did she know that one day I’d start my own tequila and have so many margaritas at my fingertips.”
